General Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan to testify in a case of extrajudicial killing and enforced disappearance

Former Chief of Army Staff General (retd) Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan is set to testify against Major General (Retd.) Ziaul Ahsan in a crime against humanity case at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT). The case involved allegations of more than a hundred enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings committed during the Awami League regime.

Prosecutor Shyikh Mahdi confirmed the matter during a press briefing today after the court proceedings.

During the hearing, senior advocate Munsurul Hoque Chowdhury, along with advocate Nazneen Nahar, represented Ziaul and sought his discharge, contesting the three charges brought by the prosecution. They argued that the prosecution failed to place any credible evidence before the tribunal.

After hearing both sides, the International Crimes Tribunal fixed January 14 for passing its order.
