ICT Issues warrant of arrest against Former BCL Leader for derogatory Facebook post

On April 8, 2026, the International Crimes Tribunal-1 issued an arrest warrant against former Chhatra League (activities prohibited) leader M H Patwari Babu for posting derogatory comments on Facebook about the tribunal.

The tribunal issued the order following an application from the prosecution. Prosecutor Shyikh Mahdi confirmed the issuance of the warrant.

The Facebook post from the ID named M H Patwari Babu allegedly accused judges and lawyers of large-scale financial transactions, specifically naming Tribunal Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Majumdar, former law adviser Asif Nazrul, former chief prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam, and Supreme Court senior lawyer Mohammad Shishir Monir.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that law enforcement raided Babu’s residence to arrest him, but he remains at large. Prosecutor Tanvir Hasan Joha stated that although Babu was not found, a Samsung brand mobile phone was seized from the residence, which was found to be logged into M H Patwari Babu’s Facebook ID.
