Law Minister Md. Asaduzzaman visits the International Crimes Tribunal
The Hon’ble Minister of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, Mr. Md. Asaduzzaman, visits the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Monday afternoon. Following the visit, he spoke with reporters on the tribunal premises.
“The proceedings of the current tribunal have not raised any questions for me so far,” the Minister said. “If there were any, we would certainly look into them. We are currently reviewing the various cases brought here. The primary concern is not increasing the number of cases to try crimes that have occurred, but ensuring that justice is truly being served. That is the challenge we face. We will do whatever is necessary to guarantee justice.”
Minister Asaduzzaman added, “After taking charge of the Ministry of Law, I held my first official meeting with the prosecution at the ICT. It was a courtesy meeting. I learned about the types of challenges present here. We discussed how these issues can be addressed through legal and administrative processes.”
Regarding past controversial activities of the prosecution, he stated, “We have taken steps addressing all matters with the utmost importance. There is no precedent for such actions being taken previously against any member of the prosecution. We have taken steps, and this process will continue.”
Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal, Aminul Islam, along with all the prosecutors, was present during the visit.
