Prosecution sought time to submit digital evidence in the Rampura Shooting Case at ICT-1
The International Crimes Tribunal-1 in Dhaka was scheduled to deliver its verdict on March 4, 2026, in a crimes against humanity case related to the Rampura killings and shootings during the large July 2024 protests. However, the prosecution asked the court to postpone the judgment so it could submit important new digital evidence, including a previously unpresented video of a confession by one of the accused, and also to record testimony from additional witnesses. Because of this, the tribunal did not announce the verdict as planned and will set a new date later.
The case involves five former police officers, including the then Dhaka Metropolitan Police commissioner, accused of ordering or taking part in the shooting that killed two people and wounded others in Rampura. Only one accused is in custody, while the others remain at large, and both prosecution and defence had finished presenting their arguments before the planned verdict date.
