A delegation from the prominent American human rights organization Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) at the Tribunal Office in Dhaka this morning. The delegation was led by Angelita Baeyens, Vice President of the organization and a distinguished human rights lawyer, accompanied by Staff Attorney Catherine Cooper.
During the meeting, the delegation held constructive discussions with the Chief Prosecutor, reflecting their positive interest in the work of the ICT. They offered several important suggestions aimed at maintaining and further strengthening international standards within the Tribunal’s judicial processes.
The Chief Prosecutor briefed the delegation on thelegal significance of the Tribunal’s mandate in delivering justice for the atrocities committed during July-August, 2024 and beyond. Both sides exchanged views on the challenges of prosecuting international crimes, safeguarding victims’ rights, and fostering global cooperation in the fight against impunity.
